Strummit

Strummit Privacy Policy

Effective 15 October 2026

Strummit is an Android app for guitar players: a tuner, a chord identifier, a chord builder, lessons and a song board. This policy explains what the app does with your information. In short: the microphone is listened to on your phone and never recorded, your chords and songs stay on your phone, there is no account, and nothing is collected about you.

Microphone

The tuner and the chord identifier need to hear your guitar, so Strummit asks for permission to use the microphone. The sound is worked on as it arrives, on the phone itself, to find the note being played. It is never recorded, never saved and never sent anywhere. The microphone is used only while the Tuner or Identify screen is open.

What stays on your phone

Your saved chords, songs, picking patterns, learning progress and settings are stored only in the app's private storage on your phone. They are not uploaded to any server run by Strummit. Strummit has no server and no user accounts.

Exports and sharing

A chord picture, a song sheet (PDF or picture) or a Strummit song file is saved to your phone's Download or Pictures folder, and leaves your phone, only when you choose to export or share it, and only to the app or place you choose (for example email, messages or Google Drive). A song file someone sends you is read only when you choose to import it.

Purchases

Strummit Pro is a one-time purchase made through Google Play. Payment is handled entirely by Google; Strummit never sees your payment details. The app only asks Google Play whether Pro has been bought, so it can unlock it. See the Google Privacy Policy.

Internet

Strummit itself does not use the internet. The only connection it makes is through Google Play, to check and make the Pro purchase.

What Strummit does not do

Deleting your data

Deleting a chord or a song in the app deletes it from your phone. Uninstalling Strummit deletes all of its data. Files you exported or shared elsewhere are not affected.

Children

Strummit collects no personal information from anyone. It is not directed at children under 13.

Changes

If this policy changes, the new version will be posted on this page with a new effective date.
